Here at Canterbury Tuning we're big fans of EVC throttle controllers for giving maximum control over throttle responsiveness and eliminating the feeling of lag from your fly-by-wire accelerator pedal. We've had these on our own vehicles for the last 5+ years and are excited to offer them to our clients!
How do they work?
Your vehicle uses a fly-by-wire accelerator pedal that gives the ECU input information based on your pedal position, and are often designed to limit torque for safety. An EVC throttle controller replaces the accelerator pedal input with new points of reference for the throttle mapping. With easily adjustable settings, you can choose maximum performance, economy and other modes.
What should I expect?
While throttle controllers don't technically increase your power, they do increase off the line response and help to reduce lag. If you're afraid of merging into traffic or overtaking an EVC throttle controller can help! They work amazingly hand in hand with our power and towing tunes!

How Does Tuning Work?Tuning your vehicle is a process of altering the parameters and settings of your ECU to increase power, torque and efficiency. Modern vehicles are globally sold and shipped with maps that need to be safe for all markets, climates and conditions from the hottest markets to the coldest. Parameters are set in such a way to protect the vehicle in all these conditions. By using New Zealand specific maps that have been dyno tested for our conditions; we can unlock more potential in your vehicle and increase the power, torque and efficiency by changing the parameters - such as boost pressure, timing, idle, throttle and more. The most effective and increasing statistics happen on turbocharged or supercharged petrol and diesel engines; although some naturally aspirated engines can also get decent gains with our tunes. Not only are we increasing your power and torque but responsiveness is often improved which also creates a better and less straining driving experience.

Are All Tunes The Same?No. We use AltTune files developed in the Waikato, New Zealand for our road conditions and that are dyno-checked. Some other tuners use international files or 'plug and play' chips which we do not recommend. The tunes we use are designed to be safe and not push your vehicle to the absolute limit, in order to reduce any unnecessary wear on other components.

Will Tuning Void My Warranty?Generally speaking yes a performance tune can void your manufacturer warranty. This is not always the case though and you should do your own homework on your own vehicle manufacturer terms and conditions or aftermarket warranty terms if you have one. We keep an original map of your vehicle logged against your VIN and can revert it back to stock if ever required.

How Do I Pay?Full payment is required upon pick up of your vehicle. We have the right to not release your vehicle until payment has been made. We accept cash, debit and credit cards; including Visa, Mastercard and American Express.

Where Are You Based?We have two options. You can bring your vehicle to our appointment-only workshop based in Yaldhurst, Christchurch. We only need your car for one business day - and can often have it finished before the end of the day so you don't have to go without it. We also offer a mobile service where we can come to you Canterbury wide. There may be associated travel charges but we don't mind travelling far and wide if you're looking for a quality tune for your vehicle. We're happy to travel Christchurch, North Canterbury, Banks Peninsular and even down to Ashburton or equivalent distance. We're here to make it easy and convenient!

How Long Does It Take?Most tunes can be completed from drop off to hand over in less than a business day.

What If I Have Multiple Vehicles?We do offer fleet deals and general multi-vehicle discounts. If you are a business in need or have a fleet of personal vehicles get in touch for a special price.
